Shutterbug Meet up

As I walk out the door yesterday, my charming husband says "Bye Geek".. and I will admit, I felt like one. At Mt Albert Memorial Hall hundreds of beautiful orchids awaited me and a group of strangers who have a very similiar interest- photography. So after the general public left we were allowed free rein in the hall but with only one rule- to not move any flowers. I was an obvious novice who couldnt even work her bloody tripod properly! so to vent, I traipsed up to a secluded area and swore lots under my breathe. My camera and tripod wasnt cooperating, but infact I just needed to stop being so tense and just start to enjoy the experience- and ask for help! so I asked a lady but she to was a novice and had no clue ( which made me feel ten times better!) and pointed me in the direction of a pro who was wonderful!
He showed me how to:
* operate my tripod effectively
* how much space is needed away from a subject due to lens size
* I learnt my diffuser is valuable& other tricks if I didnt have one
* Learn from others and have a point of difference ( most people shot straight on and not at angles).
*Learnt about relationships of the magic triangle and to push my camera to what it can handle in low light.

So happy... even if I am a geek!

366 Daily Photo Challenge:

I am biting the bullet and officially dedicating to get my camera out daily to capture life and it's moments. With full time work looming, and horrible bugs& germs and viruses invading our house lately I have been letting it get in the way of my creativity and progress.

So* deep breathe*, as of today I will be taking a photo a day to post here every tuesday. I am super excited and there are a few ladies doing the same challenge that will motivate me to keep going with their blogs, work, and evident growth as photographers. Word of warning! hehe.. be prepared to see alot even more of my family on here as they are my world and keep me inspired.

This time next year it will be so awesome to look back on and hopefully * fingers crossed*  I will be half way through my Diploma of Digital Photography!

So here it goes... the Photo Challenge commences.

A Father Loves A Daughter
by Krisitn Rose.

A father loves a daughter
Like no other love on earth.
From the day that he first meets her
Nothing can compare her worth.
Forever are they bonded
With a love that never fails.
For always he will hug her
And kiss goodnight with fairy tales.
He will love her and protect her
With strong arms just in case
But will also hug her tenderly
With a fatherly embrace.
Eskimo kisses touch her nose
With a giggle and a squeeze
And that sparkle in her little eyes
Could bring him to his knees.
What more could any father want
Than a daughter so sweet and pure
There's nothing in this world so rare
Of that he can be sure.
A fathers love is so unique
It cannot be replaced
He will always treasure times with her
And the memories embraced.

Family

Many apologies for being a slack tart on this- broadband was going at snails place and highly frustrating to post anything.A fortnight ago, I had such an awesome time at the masterclass workshop! The speaker was truly inspirational and specialises in what he calls " nude babes" - (newborns! cos lets face it photo shoots of babies are definitely the cutest and most natural when they are in the buff). He spoke about the technicalities of using DSLR which gave me handy tips and reaffirmed things that I am currently doing. I will read up on the notes again to re-cap and remind me of ideas that would burst sporadically throughout the course on how I could put his techniques into practise.

Last week I spent beautiful quality time with my some of my family who moved from Waiheke Island to West Auckland. Helena is my stunning niece and I got captured some very beautiful moments of her and her cousin Avera. Helena makes my heart swell with love, she is so very beautiful inside and out. Nico, (affectionately known as nico-cheeko) my nephew had a buddy over so I didn't want to 'shame' him with my big camera- but next time I will deff get some pics of him!
Another reflection on my pictures- I am super aware that the collections of photos don't match  which I apologise for) I'm trying out different techniques and ideas to try and find my feet and my point of difference as a photographer.
